Éclairs de sciences
Éclairs de sciences is a program designed to assist elementary school teachers by showing them how to give stimulating science classes and develop their autonomy. In order to achieve this, various tools and a structured support service are available to them. Based on the “Process of Active Discovery in science and technology”, Éclairs de sciences offers four different facets: teaching support, scientific advising, the website, and the activity bank.
Éclairs de sciences is part of a professional development approach that is being implemented in several school boards of the island of Montréal. Teachers have the opportunity to receive training for three consecutive years as a mean of exploring the “essential knowledges” of Québec’s Education Program, which are divided into three main categories: the material world, Earth and space, and living things.
Participation in this program is free. Scientists who visit schools to assist the teachers are volunteers who enjoy sharing their passion and their expertise in science or technology.
Éclairs de sciences is an initiative of L’île du savoir, and is produced by the Montréal Science Centre.
