Sound FX – grades 3 and 4 
Here’s a challenge: create the sound effects for a film clip! The first step: explore sound
and master techniques for making it. Working in teams, students will research the right
acoustic effects. They will also be introduced to audio processing technology and learn
about the profession of sound effects artist.

Secrets of the Heart – grades 3 and 4
The heart is an organ essential to life. In this workshop, students learn to find the heart
in the human body and how to understand its beat, its different parts and its growth.
They will learn to use related electronic instruments and be introduced to a medical
profession, cardiology.>

Mysterious Machines – grades 5 and 6
Pulleys, gears, levers: how do you combine these devices into a mechanism that will
come alive as a mechanical “creature”? Teams of students will follow assembly instructions
for their machine. At the end, they will dress their automaton and set it in motion.
The profession to discover: technician in mechanical engineering.

your future in science and technology.The challenge for teams of students: build an earthquake-resistant tower using a variety of materials. Each student contributes his or her
