Man needs two eyes to see in three dimensions;
similarly, IMAX® 3D needs 2 cameras, several centimeters
part, filming the same image.
The IMAX® 3D projection system is made up of 2 projectors
(projecting the separate left-eye and right-eye images
onto the screen) via polarized lenses
(i.e. special filters).
The audience must wear 3D special glasses which have the
same polarizer alignment as the projectors; each eye only
catches the images projected by one projector... that
way, the viewer enjoys "three-dimensional vision".
