An exhibition that invites on board!
Originally, the building housing the Montréal Science Centre was a maritime shed. As a reminder of this past, this exhibition, located in the corridor on level 2, invites you to come on board and find out how cargo transits through a large port like Montréal. What happens when a ship comes into harbour? A maritime adventure awaits you!
To make the experience more dynamic
- The setting features cutaway containers.
- A screen shows a 24-hour time-lapse film on the life of a ship at dock. In rapid-fire images, watch the comings and goings of a crane, trucks and containers.
- Interpretation panels explain how a ship docks and unloads its cargo, and how goods are handled and shipped.
- Two videos show images of port operations.
- A game you can play : examine images of containers taken with the VACIS system and identify contraband cargo.
