History of an event

Benoît Légaré was compelled to share his passion for glass with his peers, and it was this passion that became the catalyst behind Montreal City of Glass: A tale of innovation. Vice-president and director of the Montreal Science Centre, Benoît Légaré is also a glass collector, a member of the Board of Montreal Museums Directors and, on his own time, also an artisan.

Montreal, City of Glass: A tale of an innovative project!

Benoît Légaré became aware of the richness of the glass collections in Montreal during his discussions with his BMMD peers. His proposal came to compel all Montreal museums to rally around a common theme: glass in all its forms, from the traditional to the contemporary. The Board of Montreal Museum Directors is renowned for its expertise as a major event organizer. It is this reputation that earned the BMMD the role of coordinating funding, promotion and broadcasting this first joint thematic event: Montreal, City of Glass 2010.
