Techno Walkway

Heard of augmented reality, stop motion, or digital chromakey techniques? This is the place to discover all kinds of emerging technologies. See what’s behind augmented reality, 3D and digital editing, and join in a rally featuring techno-artifacts, to test your GQ (geek quotient)!

Pest control
Some strange insects are living at the Science Centre. Let them crawl up your arms – don’t worry, they won’t bite. They’re virtual creatures!

Augmented reality zone
Step into the augmented reality zone and see if you can tell reality from virtuality. A tourist points his phone at a restaurant and the menu, and other users’ reviews, pop up on his screen. A surgeon downloads details on her patient through high-tech glasses. Augmented reality is all this and much more.

Techno rally
So you think you know all about technology and electronic devices? Are you sure? Here’s your chance to find out. You’ll have only a few clues to help you as you learn about and handle devices from different eras. But choose your teammates carefully! Your grandmother and your little brother could come in handy!

3D zone
2011 is the year of 3D. It’s taking Hollywood by storm, and now it’s coming to your living room. Learn all the secrets of this new technology: the latest techniques for watching and creating and even printing it!

Stop Motion
What do Star Wars, Terminator and The Nightmare Before Christmas have in common? They all include scenes shot in stop motion, a technique for creating animations from fixed images. Become a videographer for a day and use this original process to make your own animation film.

Digital Editing 101
Have yourself filmed in front of a green screen, and then superimpose your image on a video you edit yourself! You’ll learn the tricks of the trade with the pros from Cybercap and get an introduction to production techniques, from motion capture to shooting, editing and special effects. Star in your own film!
