On October 29, the Science Centre and the Canadian Space Agency invite you to experience a historic moment in Canadian space exploration! Join us at the Science Centre to watch Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutryk’s very first spacewalk live. He is currently on a mission aboard the International Space Station.
On the Agenda
•🎤 Talk by astronaut David Saint-Jacques at 9:30 a.m. (at the Science Centre)
•📺 Live broadcast of Joshua Kutryk’s spacewalk
•🌎 Interactive Canadian Space Agency booth with hands-on science activities and information about life in orbit, the International Space Station and Joshua Kutryk’s mission. Promotional items will also be available at the booth (while supplies last).
About the Mission
Joshua Kutryk and NASA astronaut Anil Menon will head outside the International Space Station for two spacewalks, on October 29 and November 5. Their mission: install new solar panels that will boost the station’s power generation capacity by about 30%. Canada’s well-known Canadarm2 robotic arm will also be on hand to assist one of the astronauts as they work.
With this first spacewalk, Joshua Kutryk will become the fifth Canadian astronaut to venture outside the Station, following in the footsteps of Chris Hadfield, Steve MacLean, Dave Williams and David Saint-Jacques.
