Inspiring Nature, Inspired Techno – Biomimicry and Transport

Explore the Genius of Nature!

Nature is pure genius. Magnificent in so many ways, nature has also inspired many technological innovations. Come learn how plants and animals have helped us design greener and more efficient transportation technologies.

Explore three different exhibition zones and learn about the origins of biomimicry and about how plants and animals have inspired human technology. Then, invent your very own nature-inspired innovation!

Explore how science and biomimicry can help make our transportation technologies even greener.

Explore 10 innovation stations where you’ll meet species whose ingenious secrets inspired astounding technological breakthroughs:

  • Did you know that the waterjet propulsion technology used by jet skis was inspired by watching squid?
  • Did you know that smart car technologies used to avoid road collisions are inspired by tricks taught to us by crickets and bats?
  • Did you know that shark skin could hold secrets to help us design more fuel-efficient vehicles? For instance, adding grooves along the sides of an aircraft, similar to what we find on shark skin, may help improve its aerodynamics by reducing drag.

Get inspired by the living world and help science develop greener transportation technologies by designing your own nature-inspired mode of transportation.

This interactive exhibition is a chance for you to discover different specimens and artefacts under their naked eye, a magnifying glass, and a microscope:

  • Naturalized or freeze-dried animals
  • Natural specimens
  • Technological objects
  • Innovation models
  • Bird skeletons

Your tickets also give you access to The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards Exhibition & our 4 permanent exhibitions!

For the full experience, don't miss our COMBO TICKET with Exhibitions + 1 IMAX® Film, featuring " Into Nature’s Wild 3D" or "Animal Kingdom 3D".

The exhibition is a production of the Musée de l’ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier in collaboration with the Musée de la nature et des sciences de Sherbrooke, the Granby Zoo and the Institut de biomimétisme. This project was made possible thanks to the contribution of the Museum Assistance Program from Heritage Canada.
