The Techno Garden

Located outside, at the end of King Edward Quay.

Explore an urban garden and discover how technology can support urban agriculture. Meet SERV-EAU, an AI designed to support plant growth. Observe, measure, and analyze their progress at your own pace. Make exciting discoveries and explore urban biodiversity in a whole new light.

What helps plants grow? Much like you, they need the right environment, nutrients, sun, and water. Come explore the Techno Garden and exercise your green thumb by learning more about the science that drives agriculture.

  • Use different instruments to understand what plants need.
  • Explore different agricultural techniques such as germination pads and hydroponics.

You simply can’t grow plants without water. The Techno Garden helps you see exactly how much water plants need and also shows you how technology can help us grow fruits and vegetables right here in the city.

The garden also features a fun-filled activity area where you can play and experiment with water. Design an irrigation system from recycled items and try to water the garden. The challenge: do it without losing a single drop!

  • Meet SERV-EAU, an automated system that lets you save the water used in the garden.
  • Watch hydroponics in action and learn how to grow plants without any earth.
  • Discover the amazing diversity of insects that live in the Techno Garden.
  • Check out kiwifruits grown in Québec!
  • Take in the amazing scent of artichoke flowers.
  • Meet ladybugs that love asparagus plants.
  • Discover how astoundingly thirsty tomato plants can be.

A wide variety of fruits and vegetables are grown in the Techno Garden, including a few varieties that might surprise you. The garden was also built almost exclusively with recycled materials. As for the harvest, we donated it all to Accueil Bonneau.
